Architecture & Interior Design

Faith M. Low

Selected Works | 2022-2025

Hi, I’m Faith Low, an architecture and design student studying at the University of California, Davis. I’m interested in developing spaces that evoke how people fell and connect to good design. Good design should support everyone’s wellbeing and accessibility. My work focuses on creating intentional and meaningful environments that are accessible to all economic and social communities.

Spaces sometimes put us into situations where we have to sit close to others. For some, this leads to discomfort, tension, and the urge to leave the space. For this project, I designed and handcrafted a bench that relieves such confining predicaments. It provides different functions, including a workspace, a storage compartment, and the ability to remove the “divider” to be able to connect with the person next to you.

Crafted from plywood, this bench makes you feel weightless and balanced while providing ample stability. The cushion was repurposed and upholstered in linen. It has a floating effect inspired by Japanese simplicity and the Modern-Contemporary aesthetic, which makes it feel soft alongside
